TINT
A tint is a colour term commonly used by painters. Tint is the result of mixing the original colour with white. Thus if you tinted a colour, you've been adding white to an original colour. A tint will be lighter that the original colour. With reference to colour space, tint can be seen as the amount of white added to an original colour. I such a colour space a pure colour would be non-tinted.
HUE
A hue defines pure colour in terms of "green", "red" or "magenta". Hue can also be defined by mixing two pure colours like "red-yellow" make "orange"), or "yellow-green" make "blue". Hue is usually a single property of three when used to determine a specific colour. Hue is a technical definition of our colour perception which can be used to communicate colour ideas. Hues are basically colours we learn to connect with words as children. A hue can refer to the "pure" colour within a colour space.
